We built a new computer to house the FinalScratch (FS) system.
It's a pokey little machine, but strong enough to test whether
or not we can use this system.
Specs:
Celeron 800
256 MB RAM
10 GB IDE HD - 7200 pm
Windows 98SE
Installation:
The actual installation of the product went surprisingly well.
Considering the install process includes installing Linux and
creating a dual-boot system, all went very well!
The only glitch came when after installing and configuring
the Linux for the system, we couldn't get the system to boot
on it's own and recognize the video system. A quick scan of
the Stanton support
pages and message
boards proved helpful in realizing that updates were available
(and in our case) absolutely necessary!

Another glitch. The FinalScratch app won't start! The
RocordBoxing app works, but not the music player.
Solution: It seems that we had an un-stripable .wav file inside
the recordbox. To find the problem we ran the Maintenance Shell
and typed 'fs' at the command prompt. A list
of error messages spit out and FinalScratch didn't start. The
first message was something about "can't find WAV"
. We'll do more testing to see what exactly it was about the
.wav file that it didn't like.
